Since opening in 1983, the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida has undergone five extensive expansion projects, making it the nation’s second largest convention center. The addition of the North/South Building doubled the size of the existing facility. With over 900,000 square feet of exhibit hall space, this three level facility also offers two 92,000 square foot acoustically engineered general assembly areas, and 218,000 square feet of meeting rooms. Other amenities include two full service restaurants, four food courts, and two business centers. The North/South Building is connected to the original facility with a pedestrian bridge spanning the street. CHP & Associates provided mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering services for the third phase of construction. Six thousand tons of refrigeration was added to the existing central cooling plant without taking the existing facilities off-line. Electrical engineering was provided for Phase V.
