The 159,530 square foot Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth houses one of the foremost collections of postwar art in the central United States. Designed by internationally recognized architect Tadao Ando, the museum contains 53,000 square feet of gallery space on two levels, with three double height galleries for displaying large sculptures. The inner structural walls of cast concrete protect interior gallery spaces and support large projecting roof planes above. Forty foot high outer glass and metal panel walls provide public circulation areas from which to view the museum's landscaped exterior, sculpture garden, and reflecting pond. The critically acclaimed Café Modern features an outdoor terrace overlooking the reflecting pond. A 250 seat auditorium hosts weekly lectures, and various educational classes are offered at the museum.
