Gary Y. Poole, P.E.
President
Gary practically grew up in the engineering field working at his father's engineering practice. While pursuing his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Houston, Bob Cook and Jack Holle, founding partners of Cook and Holle, began mentoring him in 1975. Upon completion of his degree in 1977, he continued his journey to become one of the most respected engineers in the field. Building his career from bottom to top, Gary came up through the ranks starting as a draftsman, quickly progressing to a designer and later advancing to the position of project manager. In 1984, was hand-picked by his mentors to be President, and in 1987 he became an Owner of CHP & Associates. Gary’s service in the US Army during the Vietnam War instilled leadership and discipline qualities that have molded his work ethic.

With a career that spans over thirty years, he has developed a depth of engineering knowledge which has been blended with his strong commitment to client services and engineering excellence. Gary is a licensed professional engineer in the States of Texas, Louisiana and Florida.

He is a long-standing guest lecturer at both the University of Houston and Rice University Schools of Architecture. Gary is an active member of Texas Society of Professional Engineers, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers, American Council of Engineering Companies, Rice Design Alliance and the Society for Marketing Professional Services.

Gary spearheads the marketing and business development efforts, and has led CHP & Associates into the top ranks of the consulting engineering industry nationwide. Specializing in unique and innovative projects such as large assembly facilities, performing arts centers, museums, convention centers, casinos, and arenas has allowed the company to grow to over 60 employees in offices in Houston and Orlando.
